I created this piece in 2019 as part of a series for my advanced drawing class. For the subject of my series, I chose this version of my stygiomedusa deep sea mermaid. I really wanted to play with the lighting and tension in this scene. It’s a classic scene of a much larger creature “looking” around for their prey. I would love to revisit this piece in the future and see what improvements I could make.

This is an 18″ x 24″ pastel painting on gray paper. (Although it is often mistaken for charcoal!)
