The original version of this piece was created in 2020 for my second advanced drawing class. It was felt tip pen on vellum bristol, 9″ x 12″. In 2021, I revisited the piece digitally to tighten up the hatching and give Sychallia (the main figure) better definition. Sychallia’s insect centaur design is primarily inspired by wasps, tiger beetles, and mantises. Her head is inspired by large headpieces and crowns.
